Biography

Gerald (“Jerry”) D. Wahl graduated from Wayne State University and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. For over 40 years he was a passionate advocate for workers’ rights and represented countless employees in lawsuits across the country. One of Jerry’s achievements for which he was most proud was establishing the rights of salaried employees in New Jersey to rely on the promises contained in their employer’s handbooks well before the Michigan courts recognized such a claim.

In 2008, Jerry joined Raymond J. Sterling to establish Sterling Employment Law, and maintained an active law practice right until his passing.

Obtaining justice was just one of Jerry’s passions. Jerry was a proud Detroiter and an art aficionado who appreciated great literature, film and music. Jerry was also an avid golfer, who graciously treated his colleagues to a round of golf when they had time, and never hesitated to share his wealth of legal knowledge with them. He loved to travel to new places and learn about other cultures. Most of all, he enjoyed the relationships he had with the so many people in his life, both inside and outside of the office.

Jerry was a one-of-a-kind colleague and dear friend. His love for the law and obtaining justice for people was unsurpassed. Jerry, and the unique flavor he added to the Firm, will be sorely missed.
