Religious Discrimination in the Workplace

In the United States, an employer cannot make employment decisions based on religion or national origin. If someone refuses to hire or promote an employee or harasses employees based on religious beliefs or race, it is against the law.

Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination in hiring, promotion, discharge, pay, fringe benefits, job training, classification and other aspects of employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or national origin. This law is enforced by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The law has also been amended to prohibit pregnancy, disability, age and pay discrimination.
