Photographer: I was fired for promoting breastfeeding and women's equality

Detroit readers might have seen a photograph circulated on media outlets a few weeks ago of two military mothers breastfeeding their children while uniform. The photographer who took the image took the picture as part of a campaign to support working mothers and women who are breastfeeding. Now, she claims that position is part of the reason why she was recently dismissed from her civilian job.

Smokers not welcome at Detroit hospital - any employment law violation?

The Detroit Medical Center recently announced that it would no longer hire job applicants who smoked and will test employees from now on to make sure that they are not smoking. That does not mean that employees are only not allowed to smoke on the job; it means they are not allowed to smoke at all, period.

Former Napster CEO: Best Buy breached my empoyment contract

In 2008, Best Buy, where Detroit readers have probably purchased an electronics item at some point, acquired the digital music sharing service. But then, things changed. iTunes came along and Napster was no longer relevant. Ultimately, Best Buy wound up selling Napster in 2011 to another company, which closed Napster not long after.
